Court Remands Interior Designer In Custody Over Breach Of Trust

The Upper District Court in Kubwa, in Criminal Charge No: CR/102/2023 between Superintendent of Police and Ayanda Carter, has ordered the Remand of the Defendant (Ayanda Carter) to Suleja Detention Center pending a hearing along with her counsel Decisions on bail applications not yet lodged.

The Stanel Group lodged a complaint with the IGP alleging that the Defendant claimed to be a professional interior designer and relied on her introduction and commitment to provide the Company with high quality designs and services, and that Stanel Group retained her services at an agreed sum of N38, 274,162, including her logistics.

However, according to the petition, she unfortunately failed to provide the agreed upon designs and services and instead used said funds for personal gain.

The First Information report said she was charged with “breach of trust, fraud and criminal intimidation”.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

The court adjourned the matter to May 8, 2023, to hear on substantive matters, but directed defense counsel to file a bail application and to file a hearing date with the Registry as the date currently set is that of the prosecution’s case.
