When Dionne sang backing vocals on the Drifters’ song “Mexican Divorce,” Burt Bacharach heard her voice and recognized her as a star. In 1962, Scepter Records president Florence Greenberg signed Warwick to the production company of Bacharach and Hal David, who in turn signed Warwick to Scepter Records.
