Andy Smart is an English comedian. The comedian has been performing since the 1980s, most recently as one of the regulars on Comedy Store Players.
For over 13 years, Smart performed as a guest on The Comedy Store Players before becoming a full member in 1995. Smart was a street performer and a member of the Vicious Boys, which performed in the mid-1980s. Together they won the 1984 Time Out Busker Award. They appeared on shows such as The Tube, Saturday Starship and Six O’Clock before getting their own LWT show Wake Up London.
In 1985, Janet Street-Porter approached the Vicious Boys to provide the humor for Get Fresh, a two-hour outdoor live show every Saturday morning.
They later appeared on LWT’s Wake Up London and Channel 4’s The Tube, where Smart dressed as a porter and licked Paula Yates’ face as a Great Dane.
The pair toured for the next three years, including multiple visits to New York and two tours of Australia, but they split in 1990. Smart then embarked on a career in stand-up comedy. He has been a member of the Comedy Store Players improv troupe since 1995 and has appeared in more than 40 Edinburgh festivals, including solo shows in 1993 (Look Back At Danger) and 1998 (The Dope’s Cannabis pay tribute).

In 1987, Smart and Abela hosted American Football on Channel 4.
His 2019 biography of his early days, A Hitch in Time, details “a series of jaw-dropping feats and bizarre circumstances in which, astonishingly, he escaped unscathed.”Martin Freeman (Martin Freeman) commented on The Graham Norton Show that Smart used the Heimlich procedure to save him from choking on potato chips.
