Nigerian singer Ekenedirichukwu Ijemba, better known as Humble Smith, revealed that he almost started begging in 2015 before receiving divine intervention.
The 32-year-old said he had gone to a church in Lagos for help but changed his mind after the church got the inspiration for the hit song “Osinachi”.
Humble Smith revealed this in a recent interview with reality star Kimoprah on Hip TV’s Trending show.
He said he struggled to stay in the limelight despite executing multiple music projects, including filming a music video in London.
He said “Osinachi” and every line in that song is me [my story]. This is a true life story. I have something to relate to everyone.
“I wrote ‘Osinachi’ in church. I went to church to beg for money for food. But when I arrived at church, something told me that I was not a beggar. So, God blessed me to sing this song in church.”
Speaking about how he got Phyno on the song and Davido on the mix, Humble Smith said: “After the song was recorded, they [my team] Like, ‘Man, you never blow, you need to blow people [superstar] Let the song ring.
“So, we had to contact Phyno for this. Then after contacting Phyno, the song started to hit and Davido asked for a remix. Big thanks to him.”
