Nigerian afro-dance superstar David Adeleke, aka Davido, thrilled the audience with a stirring performance at the 23rd Annual BET Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on Sunday night.
The OBO singer performed a medley of hits “Feel” and “Unavailable” from his latest album “Timeless.”
His wonderful performance made the audience cheer and linger.
His performance made him the second Nigerian entertainer to perform on Culture’s Biggest Night after last year’s Fireboy DML, riding the wave of “Peru”.
Earlier, in an interview with Billboard’s Neena Rouhani, Davido discussed the explosion of African music in America.
He said: “I feel like it’s going to be a good performance tonight. It should be big. It should be amazing; it’s my first time in a theater [BET] I’m so excited to win. “
“I remember living in Atlanta and Alabama for a while when I was an African. I once shared [African] Music, play music for my American friends, they love it.So, I always knew if we had a chance to be heard, eventually it would happen [afrobeats explosion] will happen.
“Hats off to all the African artists who killed it. Everyone put in the work, came here to travel, spread the gospel [of afrobeats]”.
