Auburn issued a statement in response to the news of the passing of running back Jax Hunter. Jennifer Adams, the university’s executive director of public relations, issued a statement Thursday night.
“We are aware of the situation and take this matter very seriously,” the statement said. “The responsible office conducted a thorough review.” Violations of Auburn Athletic Department’s established rules carry an indefinite suspension. “At this time, there are no further comments.”

Jarquez Hunter, one of Auburn’s top players this season, ranks No. 56 this week on On3’s top 100 college football players for 2023. In 2022, he ranks third behind Bigsby and Robbie Ashford Germany with 668 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
According to On3’s Matt Zenitz, Jax Hunter is one of Auburn’s top spring training players and one of the top 10 spring training offensive talents to watch. He will be looking to play a big part for a Tigers club that has endured major turmoil this season.

The short-lived reign of Brian Hassing Hugh Fritz, former Liberty and Ole Miss head coach, was hired by Auburn after the season. According to the On3 college football team transfer list, he has assisted the team to complete a considerable transfer this year, ranking fifth in the national transfer list.
According to the On3 transfer portal rankings, the Tigers have 18 transfers, including former Western Kentucky offensive tackle Gunner Britton, the 27th transfer to land on the portal this cycle. Auburn has recruited former Michigan State quarterback Peyton Thorne, who could improve the position significantly with the arrival of TJ Finley. According to the On3 Transfer Portal leaderboard, Thorn is the 18th quarterback to transfer to Portal.
