Lagos Election: “Take MC Oluomo’s Threats As A Joke” — Police Spokesman

The Nigerian police force has responded to a statement made by Lagos State Park Management Board Chairman Musiliu Akinsanya, better known as MC Oluomo, about his threats to the Igbo people in the state ahead of the gubernatorial election.

A video by MC Oluomo has surfaced online warning Igbos in Lagos state not to vote for any other party than the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Lagos State Police Command spokesman Adejobi Olumuyiwa said in an appearance on Channel TV that MC Oluomo’s threats against the Ibos were just a joke.

The force public relations officer emphasized that no one has the right to prevent the people of Lagos from voting for the candidate of their choice. Olumuyiwa further assured that he has initiated an investigation into MC Oluomo’s provocative remarks.

“I saw a video of MC Oluomo with a mom Chidinma – an Igbo woman debunking that threat, it’s not true, it’s just a joke he made with some woman. So let’s take it as A joke, as he said.

“However, no one has the right and guts to tell Nigerians not to come out and vote; it’s not allowed and it’s inappropriate. MC Oluomo has come out to debunk it so let’s believe it’s not true.

“The Lagos police chief debunked it and MC Oluomo himself did the same, so Lagosians should go out and vote for the candidate of their choice,” he said.
