A passenger train collided with a Lagos State Government BRT staff bus at the PWD junction in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Thursday morning.
The BRT carrying government workers was hit by a train from Agege while crossing the railway to connect to Ikeja GRA. Onlookers gathered to rescue victims of the bus-train crash in a series of images of the accident circulating on the internet.
The accident caused traffic jams on the Lagos-Abeokuta highway as motorists bypassed the Shogun from Osodi along the route to Ikeja.
The number of casualties and the names of those killed remained unknown pending an official statement from the Lagos state government.
