A woman known as Miss Chioma has surprised social media users by promoting Nigeria’s vernacular language internationally.
The young woman shared a video of herself teaching Igbo at Southwest University in Chongqing, China.
Chioma, a lecturer at the institution, is leading a group of elementary school students on a tour of the university as part of an intercultural course.
She speaks Mandarin — the lingua franca of China — and specifically teaches Chinese students how to greet, express appreciation and sing in Igbo.
The educator briefly introduced how well-known the Igbo people are in Nigeria, and said that next time they meet, she will tell them more about Igbo culture and her home country.
In the end, she sang a popular Igbo song and rhymed while trying to get the kids to join her.
Chioma shared the video with the caption; “See how I teach Igbo to Chinese kids in Southwest University’s intercultural program.”
