Officer Assaulted By Seun Kuti Is In Coma – Police Tells Court

The Lagos State Police Command allegedly claimed that the officer who was beaten by Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti was in a coma.

Police prosecutors asked District Court 1, Yaba to issue a remand order for Seun to be detained for 21 days, SaharaReporters reported, adding that the officer was being treated at an undisclosed hospital.

However, Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun granted the accused bail.

An eyewitness who spoke to SaharaReporters said; “The Chief Judge’s wife Adeola Olatunbosun District Court 1 Yaba heard the statement from the Nigerian police applying to detain Seun Kuti for 21 days, claiming that the policeman he allegedly beat was in a coma at an undisclosed hospital. state.

“However, Kuti’s lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, countered that the police had publicly stated that the officer tailed Seun’s home and accepted N12,000 to fix his car. His lawyer had gone to meet the magistrate before secretly taking Seun to court.

“They also accused Seun of not writing the statement, but Olumide-Fusika retorted that he was present when Seun wrote the statement. The Chief Justice decided to adjourn the meeting to ‘study the dossier.’”

The court also ordered Nigerian police to complete their investigation into the alleged attack within 48 hours and to allow Kuti to return home.

“The court gave police 48 hours to complete ‘their investigation’, after which Cutie could be released on bail.

“Kuti’s bail is provided by two sureties who must own property in Lagos”.
