Tate Makgoe, formally known as Pule Herbert Isak Makgoe, is a South African politician. In the 1994 elections, he was first elected to the Free State Provincial Assembly as a delegate to the African National Congress.
As a member of the African National Congress, Tate Makgoe has held various positions on the Executive Committee. He served twice as MEC in Finance (1994-1996; 2005-2009), and MEC in Tourism and Environmental Affairs (1997-1999).
Tate Makgoe was the MEC for Agriculture (1999-2001) and the MEC for Public Safety, Security and Communications (2004-2005). He was chairman of the legislature from 2001 to 2004. He was appointed Education MEC by then Prime Minister Ace Magashule in May 2009 and was retained in 2014.
After Sisi Ntombela was elected Prime Minister in March 2018, she retained Makgoe’s position (Education MEC) and continued after the 2019 general election.
