Irene Agbontaen, British fashion designer and founder of TTYA in London, describes Nigerian music superstar Wizkid as the Michael Jackson of Africa.
She talked about this in an interview on the I Said What I Said podcast, while recounting her first experience with Wizkid.
The stylist said he had just finished performing with British rapper Skepta at an event organized by a friend in Lagos.
According to Irene TTYA, they were about to leave when Wizkid told them he had a suite at the Eko Hotel and they should stay with him.
She said they agreed and had a New Years celebration at his place before he took them away, the first time she’d seen the Wiz effect in real life.
Erin said that whenever she goes to conferences and corporate events because of what she’s witnessed, she explains to people that unless they meet Wizkid in Lagos, they won’t understand that Wizkid is the Michael Jackson of Africa.
